Virtuoso Education Consulting Education Consulting to Work Aggressively to Help One Indiana School Make AYP
Indianapolis, Indiana (9/1/12)
According to the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE), one Indianapolis charter school is under pressure to make Adequate Yearly Progress after failing to “make the grade” for two consecutive years. As a result, Imagine Life Sciences Academy East Academy, in Indianapolis, has employed the services of Virtuoso Education Consulting to support their school improvement efforts. The school was identified for Year 1, Comprehensive/Intensive Improvement Status by the IDOE.
According to Renae Azziz, CEO at Virtuoso, among the services expected to be provided by her company are six days of intensive professional development for all faculty with implementation of rigorous and relevant instruction prescribed by Virtuoso trainers. “Following each PD session, my team and I will conduct monthly walk-throughs of classes to observe implementation of rigorous and relevant instructional strategies,” explains Azziz.
Virtuoso Education Consulting is able to customize training by first working with a district or individual school to determine strengths and identify needs as indicated by school wide and student level data, as in the case of Imagine Life Sciences Academy East. School administration, faculty, and Virtuoso professionals team up to determine the best plan of action to ensure the school gets solutions and sees results. The firm often uses its own high-performance criterion as well as federal, state, or district level benchmarks to measure results and provide complete evaluations. With the improvements in mind, Imagine Life Sciences Academy East is already offering free, after-school tutoring to qualifying students through its supplemental education services program and invests in an entire week in October, January, and April with students who are invited attend a half day of remediation in reading and/or math instruction each day. Once implemented, the instruction presented by Virtuoso Education Consulting is expected to help the school make required improvements and positively affect the students’ education experience.
